Caring and Saving the Animals

This year’s theme is - Many Helping Hands, Caring for Everyone! The children at Twinklekidz Academy want to create awareness among the people around them to lend their helping hands to care and save the animals in the wild. Our theme for this year SSDB project is “Caring and Saving the Animals!”

The children were inspired by what they learned on World Wildlife Day and Earth Day. They learned that many animals are affected by Global warming and Nature disaster. They were upset that many animals are facing endangerment. Through our inquiry project, the children decided to raise funds to adopt a Bornean orangutan animal named Khansa living at the zoo.

Before our Project Launching Party

The children were very excited to receive 2 boxes of things sent by ECDA. They were very excited and with permission, they started to open up the boxes. They discovered hats and many more things in the boxes. They distributed all the items to friends in Nursery 2 and Kindergarten 1.

To create awareness for all parents at Twinklekidz Academy, the Kindergarten 2 children created bookmarks. The children put messages such as “Animals need their home too”, “Do our part to save the animals in the wild” etc… To emphasize saving the animals, children packed animal biscuits to give away together with the bookmarks.

Our Project “Caring and Saving the Animals!” Launching Party

On our SSDB Launching day on 20 April 2023, children put on their SSDB hats, taking the role of an ambassador. They approached parents who sent their children to school that morning. They distributed the bookmark and biscuits to the parents. They explained and emphasized to the parents the importance of saving the animals in the wild.

During the launching party, children designed muffins to give away to the staff at the centre. They also shared their muffins with all the staff in school to remind them of saving animals in the wild.

After Launching Party

Moving forward, children planned to visit the zoo to discover more about the animals facing endangerment living in the Singapore Zoo. The children will then raise fun to adopt a Bornean orangutan named Khansa.
