We began our Start Small Dream Big with a theme, ‘Our Family Our Community’. To promote sustainability as well as befriending children with special needs as our aim for this year’s project, we collaborated with our children’s family and MIJ Hub organisation to do an upcycling project of making a coin pouch.
To kick start the project, parents of the children of Sunshine kids Care Centre @Tampines helped us with the collections of milk and juice cartons, recycled cloth, and decorative materials like buttons, sequins, and ribbons.
Using the collectibles, the children worked together alongside their teachers to make beautiful coin pouches that can benefit the children of MIJ. Teachers facilitated the children by showing step by step instructions to make the coin pouches. Once done, our K1 and K2 children made a special note for their new found friends at MIJ Hub and packed them together.
