Kindness And Care Towards the Elderly

Khalsa Kindergarten successfully completed another year of start small dream big (SSDB) project.

On the 3rd of August 2018, to “Celebrating Kindness” journey, the K2 children and staff of Khalsa Kindergarten visited ‘Sun Love Home for the Aged’. All dressed in red and white clothes, we carried 14 boxes of donation items to celebrate Singapore’s National day with the elderly. The parents from Nursery, K1 and K2 levels had generously donated items such as biscuit, whole meal crackers, Swiss roll packets, facial tissues, wet tissues and towels, according to the Home’s requirements. The total cost of the donation items was approximately $ 1,157.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the staff and some of the elderly in the Home. The children were very excited to show their talent and give the gifts to the elderly people. To start with, the children sang the national anthem and took the pledge together with the elderly. Some of the residents even walked in with the Singapore flag. The children sang National day songs in English, Malay and Tamil. After their performance they proudly presented the kindness cards, created, together with their parents, during the June holidays. The elderly people were pleasantly surprised and their face lit-up while receiving the token of love from the children.

Through this meaningful event, the children learnt about kindness, care and respect to the elderly. Smiles on the faces.
