SSDB Project - Eat Locally Grown

Children were introduced to the topic and listed down what they know of it and what they want to find out. Using these questions as a guideline, they worked in small groups to gather information and participated in various activities. Creating a KWL Chart

Learning about SG Fresh Produce Logo

Using laptops, children searched online to list down the foods that are locally produced. They found out that common local produce includes eggs, fish, mushrooms and leafy greens.

They visited a supermarket and are encouraged to observe and compare local and non-local prouduce. They were given opportunities to pay for their purchases.

Making of Yummy Vegetable Soup

Children were involved in a cookery activity using the locally greens bought from the supermarket. They worked cooperatively from washing the vegetables, cutting the vegetables and pouring them into the pot. Through this activity, children learned about team work and basic cooking skills.
